FOOD SAFETY JUST A CLICK AWAY AT WWW.FOODSAFETYWEBLOG.COM

HUNTERSVILLE , N.C. —Food safety has become such an important issue within the foodservice industry that everyone is expected to understand the basics.   The real challenge for operators today is staying current on the next generation of technology, products and resources that can better help them manage food-safety programs.   In response to this issue, food-industry leaders , Rubbermaid and Noble, have joined together  on a foodservice-focused food-safety web portal called www.foodsafetyweblog.com.

The weblog launched during this year’s National Restaurant Show and initially focused on safety-related news from the show.   Fed by a team of culinary professionals and food writers, the weblog was updated several times daily during NRA and then expanded coverage to broader foodservice safety-related issues.

In true blog format, the www.foodsafetyweblog.com landing page features hot links to the most recent posts and a category cross-reference feature that allows users to sort posts by the type of coverage—interviews, product reviews and education—or by subject matter including cross-contamination, employee/patron safety and accuracy/measurement.

An enrollment option allows visitors to be notified when updates are posted.   A feedback option allows topics of discussion to be submitted for consideration.   The weblog was developed to help foodservice operators stay current on food-safety topics.

“This is one part of our overall commitment to a broad food-safety focus,” said Dave Pirkle, vice president of marketing for charter sponsor Rubbermaid.  “This partnership and weblog are the result of that commitment and our desire to be foodservice industry leaders relative to food safety.”
