Chef2Chef News Desk Team Building at Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen
Houston. November 21, 2006. Team building is designed to help group members improve their capacity to work together in order to solve problems. Some team building activities are like kid games, while others are rope courses and trust exercises. To Sylvia Casares-Copeland, chef/owner of Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen, 12637 Westheimer, making tamales is a team building exercise. For more information about the team building tamale classes, please call 281-679-8300.
"Our team-building cooking classes have really taken off," stated Copeland. "Cooking is a science and an art, both of which require people to work together," she added. "The only difference is we get to eat our lesson."
On Wednesday, November 15, Accenture hosted a team building cooking class at Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen. "Sylvia's represents many of the ideals that we try to convey in the workplace: innovation, differentiation, heritage of excellence, and hospitality with care for others," stated William P. McGrath, Senior Manager at Accenture. "The tamale workshop was very informative, interactive, and fun."
"We create touch-stone events that capture clients' attention that are also memorable," stated organizer Peter Linden, CEO Leadership Consulting Group. "We call this class Tempting Tamales!"
"Cooking classes are perfect for team building because everyone likes to eat," he added. "They are interactive, hands-on, and in order for the meal to be a success, the team has to rely on each other. Food is a perfect vehicle for team building because it appeals to all of our senses, touch, taste, smell, sight and sound."
"We shoot four to six rolls of film, action shots, individuals and a group shot," added Linden. "You would be amazed at how long these photos stay on credenzas because it is such a memorable and fun event."
