4th Annual Edible Book festival to be held in Atlanta

Category : Chef2Chef News Desk

It’s time to play with your food and eat your words again!!! Literacy Volunteers of Atlanta (LVA) and the Southeast Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers (SEGBW) will host the Fourth Annual International Edible Book Festival on Saturday, March 31st, 2007, at the Little Shop of Stories, Decatur, between 2.30pm and 5.00pm. Culinary and educational organizations, book artists, and members of the general public are expected to participate.

Participation in the event and entry to the venue is free and open to all. To participate, make edible art that has something to do with books as shapes and/or content. These creations will be exhibited to the public and judged on the basis of relevance to the event and creativity involved. Judges will select the top three winners for the event, who will win gift coupons from metro-Atlanta businesses. The edible creations will be consumed by all present at a closing tea party.   The limit to the number of entries by any single participant is three and the event is now open for registration.

The festival embraces anything book related, such as a scene or character from a book, book covers, or book structure - the sky’s the limit! And there are no restrictions on ingredients as long as they are edible – chocolate, cheese, vegetables, anything!  Materials can be any food items that will make an edible book or book-related food art.
The event also will feature an auction of items to support LVA in its efforts to raise the level of adult literacy in metro-Atlanta. Any donations made to LVA at the venue are welcome.

The International Edible Book Festival is a yearly event held throughout the world, uniting bibliophiles, book artists and food lovers to celebrate the ingestion of culture and its fulfilling nourishment.
