Celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse ’78 to visit
WHAT:
The event will begin with a dedication and then Lagasse will spend time with the students assigned to the lab class.

In October of 2004, University President John J. Bowen ’77 announced that the sophomore kitchen utilized for teaching French Classical Cuisine would be named for the university’s most recognizable alum – Chef Emeril Lagasse ’78.
Lagasse hosts
an
annual university-wide fundraising event called The Emeril Lagasse Golf Classic which to date has raised over $1.6
m
illion for student scholarships.
The Emeril Lagasse Scholarship is a $10,000 financial award offered at each of the
university’s
four campuses annually. The scholarship includes an eleven week internship at one of
Lagasse’s nine
restaurants.
The event celebrating this dedication was
originally
scheduled for September of 2005,
but was
postponed because of the effect Hurricane Katrina had on Lagasse’s corporate headquarters and restaurants in
While students have been utilizing the kitchen for their education since September of 2005, we are pleased to be able to formally dedicate the space now.
This event was closed to the public.
