Tyson Food Service Nears Completion Of Trans-Fat Removal Plan For Food Service Breaded Poultry Products

TYSON FOOD SERVICE NEARS COMPLETION OF TRANS-FAT REMOVAL PLAN
FOR FOOD SERVICE BREADED POULTRY PRODUCTS
SPRINGDALE, Ark. ─ Effective this month, Tyson Foods, Inc. will complete the conversion to zero trans fat oils in the production of virtually all of the company’s food service breaded poultry products. This means most Tyson food service breaded poultry products will contain zero grams of trans fat per serving. The accomplishment is part of Tyson’s strategic transition to zero trans fats, which began in 2004 with fully cooked breaded poultry retail products and “child nutrition” school food service products.
Keeping with its tradition of being first to offer cutting edge innovation, Tyson Foods is making this move in response to consumer and operator interest in products with reduced trans-fat content. While
Tyson® chicken products are naturally low in trans-fat, it can be found in certain added ingredients, such as cooking oils—which led to the company’s decision to reformulate its entire breaded poultry portfolio. Research conducted by Tyson revealed no taste, texture or visual differences between the newly formulated products and the company’s current product lines.
