The End of Sushi?
Blue Ocean President and Co-founder Dr. Carl Safina will talk with WNYC's Leonard Lopate on Friday, June 29 about the alarming collapse of Atlantic bluefin tuna populations.
Carl's appearance on The Leonard Lopate Show will be broadcast at 12 pm on 93.9 FM and AM 820 AM and online at www.wnyc.org
Carl's comments on Atlantic bluefin tuna overfishing - by both the United States and Europe - were included in the June 25 edition of the New York Times. www.nytimes.com/2007/06/25/business/25tuna.html?_r=1&oref=slogin&pagewanted
Carl has called for an Atlantic-wide, five-year moratorium on bluefin tuna fishing and the closing of spawning areas in the Gulf of Mexico to fishing techniques that could kill bluefin.
