SCOTSMAN RANKED IN TOP 25 FOR SECOND TIME BY INDUSTRY WEEK

VERNON HILLS, Ill.—Scotsman Ice Systems’ Fairfax, South Carolina operation, has been recognized as one of 25 Best Plants in North America by IndustryWeek magazine.  This is the second time Scotsman has been named a finalist in the annual awards program, the first being in 2002.  IndustryWeek’s Best Plants, in its 17^th year, recognizes outstanding manufacturing facilities across North America.  According to the magazine, these plants are on the leading edge of efforts to increase competitiveness, enhance customer satisfaction, and create stimulating and rewarding work environments.  Ten winners will be selected from the group of 25 and be profiled in the publication’s October issue.

Criteria used by IndustryWeek to qualify Best Plants includes quality performance, on-time delivery, productivity improvements and profitability, management tools and strategies that include customer-focused organizational structures, empowered work teams, shrewd application of new technology, implementation of lean manufacturing concepts, and other approaches that lay the groundwork for continuous improvement.
