for Best “Expression” In Taste & Tell Contest

ORRVILLE , OH, OH , July 18, 2006 — Remember the first time you tasted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or bit into a warm grilled cheese?  There was probably one word to describe the experience – maybe “delicious,” “wonderful” or “amazing!”  Now, The J.M. Smucker Company wants to capture the magical moment when consumers bite into a Smucker’s® Uncrustables® sandwich through the Smucker’s Uncrustables Taste & Tell Contest.  Now through September 30, 2006, consumers are invited to submit a video or audio entry describing their initial reaction to the first bite of a Smucker’s Uncrustables sandwich for the chance to win a $25,000 college scholarship.

Whether it’s the classic taste of peanut butter and jelly; the warm, “just like” homemade goodness of grilled cheese; or the perfect combination of peanut butter and honey, consumers can choose their favorite variety of Smucker’s Uncrustables sandwiches and let their taste buds do the talking!

“We want to give consumers the opportunity to express their very first thoughts about Smucker’s Uncrustables Sandwiches and look forward to hearing the different ways people describe these delicious sandwiches,” said Maribeth Badertscher, Director, Corporate Communications, The J.M. Smucker Company.  “The contest encourages consumers to express their creative side and we’re excited to award a $25,000 college scholarship to the most unique entry.”  

About the Smucker’s® Uncrustables® Taste & Tell Contest

The Smucker’s® Uncrustables® Taste & Tell Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. ET on July 10, 2006 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on September 30, 2006, and is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C., 13 years of age or older.  Consumers may enter via mail by sending their Entry along with their name, complete address, daytime phone number, email address and date of birth secured to the video or audio entry in an envelope along with a completed Official Entry form found at www.smuckers.com to:  Smucker’s Uncrustables Taste & Tell Contest, P.O. Box 8523, Prospect Heights, IL, Prospect Heights, IL, 6007.  Alternatively, entrants may submit an audio file only at www.smuckers.com or may submit an audio or video via Smucker’s Uncrustables Mobile Events . 

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:  creativity/originality; relevance to theme and clarity of thought.  Ten finalists will be selected by a panel of judges in October and posted on www.smuckers.com as part of a nationwide online vote for one week.  One grand prize winner will ultimately be selected to receive a $25,000 scholarship.  Three first prize winners will receive video iPods® and six second place winners will be awarded a one year supply of Smucker’s Uncrustables sandwiches. The contest is void where prohibited.
