Product Review
Making a simple yet powerful design statement, this metal bowl designed by Neil Cohen for Nambé is both artistic and functional. Instead of being perfectly symmetrical, the bowl elongates at two sides where smooth oval cut-outs serve as handles for lifting and carrying. Fill the 12-inch bowl with fresh seasonal fruit and admire as a table centerpiece, or pile high with a crisp green salad or hot pasta-the heavy, gleaming metal is excellent at retaining cold as well as heat, and can be chilled in the fridge or freezer and warmed in an oven. The durable metal will not crack, chip, or tarnish, but may not be used in a microwave or dishwasher. Nambé was founded in 1951 in a village of the same name in scenic northern New Mexico. From the beginning, the company focused on hand-producing high-quality, functional items such as bowls and trays with great attention to timeless, modern design. Still made in the USA, Nambé's signature metal alloy is liquefied, poured into a hand-made sand cast, and the resulting piece repeatedly polished and smoothed by hand. Exceptional gifts for the most special of occasions, Nambé metal bowls and accessories are now joined by porcelain and crystal pieces, each flawlessly crafted. Nambé ware has won numerous design awards, has been shown in or recognized by nearly two dozen museums worldwide, and is part of the permanent collections of many, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. --Ann Bieri
Product Description
This 12-inch Bowl shows off a colorful, chilled salad or keeps steamed rice piping hot, aside from being a striking piece all on its own. The side handles make serving a breeze while adding to the contemporary design. The simplicity of the dish allows it to blend with casual or formal decor.Since 1967, Namb?? designers have been inspiring unique, often museum-quality, cookware that resembles art, handcrafted in its foundries high in the Sangre d?? Cristo Mountains of Santa Fe. Made from a proprietary aluminum-based alloy, each exceptional piece is polished to resemble high-luster silver, although it does not contain silver. It also retains its temperature, much like cast iron, but does not contain iron or lead. Namb?? is completely foodsafe, withstands freezer, oven, stovetop and grill temperatures, and makes a stunning yet functional serving piece that will never tarnish. To care for Namb??, hand wash with soapy water and dry thoroughly. No two pieces are exactly alike, and slight imperfections may occur due to the molding process and individual handcraftsmanship.Other Features:Oven SafeBroiler SafeFreezer Safe
